It was wonderful to visit the school that we (Ruth Subash and Subash Chellaiah) founded in 2012 in Keeranur, Tamil Nadu. Providing education in rural Tamil Nadu for 11 years – we accept children from all faith and caste backgrounds. We do charge low fees and for families struggling we reduce the fees. As a school we are offering good quality English medium education and giving those attending a great foundation for their future education. Over the years from the school we have run tailoring classes, health camps, eye camps etc. It is a true part of the local community and local political and faith leaders want the school to remain as it is offering a much needed, vital service. Parents would love the school to grow and for their children to have their whole education with Little Elephants but financially and physically this is not possible at the moment.
October 2022 Ruth and Subash visited the school, see how it has changed and grown and took part in their Diwali celebrations. We were welcomed with handmade garlands and were treated to a lovely little Diwali programme were children shared facts and sang songs. Following the programme we handed each student healthy snacks (made by a partner organisation – ROSE and they employ local women to make them).
