An international conference exploring how communities of religion and belief can help build a more peaceful and compassionate society will take place in Lincoln this summer.
The Reconciliation in Action International Conference, organised by The Centre for Reconciliation, will be held 17–19 July 2026 at Lincoln Bishop University, UK. The three-day gathering will bring together leaders, academics, peacebuilders and community practitioners from across the UK and around the world.
Under the theme “Reconciliation in Action: Using Religion and Belief to Build a Better Society,” the conference will explore how people of different religions and beliefs can work together to strengthen communities, promote understanding, and address global challenges.
Among the keynote speakers are humanitarian expert Rae McGrath; Rabbi Mark L. Solomon; Dr Aziz Hafiz, General Practitioner and Chairman of Humanity First UK; The Revd Andrew Thompson MBE; and Barbara Butler, Executive Secretary of Christians Aware.
The conference programme will feature keynote talks, workshops, reflective sessions, and opportunities for dialogue and networking. The event will be held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation.
Subash Chellaiah, Executive Director of The Centre for Reconciliation, said:“We have been working on this conference for the past two years, and I would like to thank the board and members of the Lincolnshire Faith Council and the wider religion and belief communities across Lincolnshire for their support. Because of their commitment, we are now able to launch this much-needed international conference. At a time when societies face division and conflict, this gathering offers an opportunity to bring people together to explore how religion and belief can contribute to reconciliation, peace and stronger communities.”
The event is open to faith leaders, civic leaders, students, community groups and anyone interested in reconciliation, peacebuilding and dialogue across religion and belief.
