The Centre for Reconciliation (TCfR) was delighted to take part in the Family Fun Day at Bracebridge Heath Cricket Club on Sunday 16 August 2026, from 12 noon to 4pm, joining local organisations, groups and families for a wonderful afternoon that brought communities together.
The Family Fun Day has been taking place for the past few years and continues to go from strength to strength, becoming a valued occasion for local families and communities to come together, meet one another and enjoy the day.
Despite the recent hot weather, it was a sunny and pleasant afternoon, with a welcome breeze and even a brief surprise shower of rain. Families enjoyed a wide range of stalls, activities and entertainment, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the event.
It was particularly lovely to see children and young people being active and enjoying cricket and the other activities on offer. Encouraging children to be active, spend time outdoors and take part in activities together is an important part of supporting their health and wellbeing.
The TCfR stall provided an opportunity to meet local people and raise awareness of our work across Lincoln and Lincolnshire. In particular, we spoke about the Lincoln Hygiene Bank, which provides essential hygiene products to people experiencing financial hardship, and our Taste of Unity Kitchen, which brings people of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds together through food, friendship and conversation.
Our Lucky Dip was popular with children and families and provided a fun way to engage with visitors throughout the afternoon.
It was also lovely to see TCfR Chair, Revd Steve Holt, come along and support us during the day. A special thank you goes to Pete Hill, Hygiene Coordinator and Board Member, and our young volunteer Suresh, who helped run the TCfR stall, welcomed visitors and spoke with people throughout the event.

“It was lovely to spend the day talking with people about the Lincoln Hygiene Bank and the work we do. I had some really meaningful conversations, and it was encouraging to see how aware people are of the challenges others in our community are facing. People showed genuine interest and compassion, and many were keen to understand how the Hygiene Bank helps people with everyday essentials. Days like this give us a valuable opportunity to connect with the community and raise awareness of the support available.”

“What stood out today was the real sense of community. This Family Fun Day continues to go from strength to strength, and it was wonderful to see families coming together and children being active through cricket and the many other activities. Events like this are important for community connection and wellbeing.
“For TCfR, it was also a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of our Hygiene Bank and Taste of Unity and to have conversations with local people about how we can support and strengthen our communities.”
TCfR would particularly like to thank Mel Bradley, the lead organiser, for the opportunity to be part of the Family Fun Day and for all the work involved in bringing the event together.

The Family Fun Day demonstrated the value of bringing communities together — creating opportunities for people to meet, build relationships, stay active and simply enjoy time together.
