In August, The Centre for Reconciliation (TCfR) proudly launched its work in India, marking a new chapter in our commitment to dignity, inclusion, and practical support across borders. As part of this journey, we visited the inspiring grassroots charitable work of Mr Peri Kulai Kaather, whose initiative – Shri Amirthaa Foundation – operates in a village just outside Valliyoor, Tamil Nadu.

Kulai Kaather’s dedication is nothing short of extraordinary. Every single day of the year—365 days without pause—his small team prepares and serves a nutritious, home-cooked meal to around 40 people. For many, this is their only meal of the day; without this lifeline, they would be left facing hunger alone.

But the impact does not end with food. The initiative also supports a local school by providing free education and clothing to children and families in need, helping to break the cycle of poverty and open doors to opportunity.

A small community farm strengthens this effort, producing fresh milk used to make paneer and curd for the daily meals, while chickens provide eggs—ensuring that nourishment is both wholesome and sustainable.

During our visit, we explored ways TCfR can support and further strengthen this valuable community work. This marks our first collaborative initiative in the region and complements our ongoing educational support in Keeranur village. Together, we are building bridges of compassion and practical aid across communities.

How You Can Help

Your support can make a real difference. Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Sponsor a meal – £30 feeds 40 people with a hot, nutritious lunch.
  • Donate clothing and shoes – Items for babies, children, men, and women (South Asian styles preferred for women) suitable for warm climates (above 25°C year-round).
  • Provide new, packaged underwear – For all ages and genders.
  • Knit or crochet blankets – Handmade warmth goes a long way.
  • Make a financial donation – Help cover the cost of shipping supplies to India.

Together, we can extend the reach of compassion and ensure no one is left behind. If you’d like to support or learn more, we’d love to hear from you.
