We are delighted to share the success of our very first Taste of Unity session, held this month. The event brought together members of our community to share food, friendship, and fellowship — and it was a resounding success.
We were joined by a wonderful group of community members, who came together to enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a delicious menu that included rice, chickpea curry, pasta, salad, and banana custard. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our volunteers, 78 containers of freshly prepared food were also donated to the YMCA Homeless Shelter, helping to support those in need within our wider community.
In the photo above, Abdul is pictured with a member of staff from the YMCA as the food donations were delivered. Abdul shared:
“All the food donated went to the YMCA Homeless Shelter — and they were so happy to receive it.”
Taste of Unity is all about sharing food and building friendship. It’s a space where everyone is welcome — especially those facing difficult times — to enjoy a free, freshly prepared meal in a warm and friendly environment. The initiative is supported by Lincolnshire’s interfaith communities and aims to strengthen community connections through care, compassion, and shared experience.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our brilliant volunteers who gave their time and energy to prepare the meals and make the evening such a success. Your dedication truly embodies the spirit of unity and fellowship that this initiative is built upon.
Our next Taste of Unity Kitchen will take place on Wednesday, 12th November, as part of our regular schedule on the second Wednesday of every month, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Central Methodist Church Hall, Lincoln LN5 7PR.
✨ Together we share, together we care.
