As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week, we want to take a moment to recognise and thank every volunteer who gives their time, skills, compassion, and energy to support the work of The Centre for Reconciliation (TCfR).

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether supporting communities through our Lincoln Hygiene Bank, helping deliver our Taste of Unity Kitchen, or contributing behind the scenes, their commitment makes an extraordinary difference.
From January to May alone, our volunteers contributed an incredible 820 volunteer hours through our Hygiene Bank and Taste of Unity initiatives.

Through the Lincoln Hygiene Bank, volunteers have helped provide dignity and practical support to individuals and families in need across Lincoln and surrounding areas. Across multiple locations, volunteers gave an estimated 220 hours of service, ensuring essential hygiene products reached people facing hardship.
At our Taste of Unity Kitchen, volunteers have come together to prepare, cook, and serve food while creating spaces of welcome, belonging, and community connection. Between January and May, 13 volunteers serving monthly contributed an estimated 600 volunteer hours, helping make these gatherings possible.

We also want to recognise the important contribution of our Board of Trustees, made up of eight dedicated members who generously volunteer their time, expertise, leadership, and governance to help guide the charity’s mission and strategic direction. Their support ensures that our work continues to grow and respond to the needs of our communities.

Reflecting on the importance of volunteering, Subash Chellaiah, Executive Director, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our volunteers. Without them, our work simply would not happen, and we would not be able to make the difference we do in our communities. Their generosity, compassion, and commitment inspire us every day. We are deeply grateful to every volunteer who gives their time to support our mission.”

At TCfR, volunteering is more than giving time — it is about building stronger communities, promoting dignity, creating connection, and working together for reconciliation and hope.
To every volunteer, trustee, and supporter: thank you. Your time, kindness, and dedication truly make a difference.
Happy Volunteers’ Week!
