The Centre for Reconciliation is pleased to announce the successful completion of a major packing session this afternoon, during which 132 care packs were assembled and prepared for distribution this winter.

This achievement was made possible by the combined efforts of our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh’s Award volunteer, our board members, and our staff, who worked together to create an efficient, positive, and community-spirited environment. We also extend our sincere thanks to the City Council for their ongoing support, which helps make initiatives such as this possible.

Today’s packing session forms part of our wider Winter Warmth & Welcome initiative, running throughout November and December. During this period, the Centre for Reconciliation will provide 20 hours of warm, welcoming community space through our Taste of Unity and Coffee and Chat gatherings, supported by around 18 volunteers and totalling approximately 244 volunteer hours.

Speaking after the session, Chair Steve Holt said:“This afternoon showed what our community can achieve when we come together. Packing 132 care packs in just a few hours is an incredible accomplishment, and we are grateful for every volunteer who helped make it happen.”

This year’s Winter Warmth & Welcome programme is expected to support around 250 people, reflecting the strong commitment within our community to care, connection, and compassion.
