Southend-on-Sea, 18th May 2025 – The Harmony Festival transformed Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea into a bustling hub of celebration and unity on Sunday, attracting over 3,000 attendees from all walks of life. The event, running from 12 pm to 4:30 pm, was a vivid display of community spirit, with local businesses, community organisations, artists, and food vendors coming together to create an atmosphere brimming with joy and connection.

The Centre for Reconciliation was proud to participate, engaging with approximately 320 visitors at our stall. Festival-goers stopped by to learn more about our mission, share their stories, and express their appreciation for our work. We were deeply moved by the positive feedback and the overwhelming support from the community, many of whom voiced their eagerness to see us return to future local events.

“The energy and warmth at the Harmony Festival were truly inspiring,” said Subash Chellaiah, Executive Director of the Centre for Reconciliation. “We are grateful to have connected with so many wonderful people who share our vision of unity and understanding. Events like these remind us of the power of community and the importance of coming together to celebrate our diversity.”

The festival also welcomed key community figures, including local councillors and Southend MP Bayo Alaba, who stopped by our stall to discuss our initiatives and explore opportunities for further community engagement. Their presence underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in building a stronger, more inclusive Southend.

Festival highlights included:

  • Live music and dance performances celebrating cultural diversity.
  • A vibrant mix of local crafts and food stalls showcasing community talent and flavor.
  • A spirit of togetherness and harmony that brought people from diverse backgrounds closer than ever.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Trust Link for organizing such an incredible event and for championing community spirit in Southend. We are grateful to be part of such a welcoming and inspiring community and look forward to continuing our mission of reconciliation and unity.
