The Boston Mosque and Islamic Centre opened its doors on Saturday 25th October 2025 as part of the National Mosque Open Day initiative, welcoming visitors from across the community to experience mosque life, learn about Islam, and share in a spirit of friendship and understanding.

The event featured exhibitions about the Five Pillars of Islam, Islamic values, and community initiatives, along with opportunities for visitors to ask questions and engage in open conversation. Guests also enjoyed a generous buffet of delicious dishes and refreshments — a wide variety of foods prepared by volunteers for everyone to enjoy together.

Imam Abdul Hamid Qureshi, leader of Boston Mosque and Islamic Centre, said: “We are committed to community cohesion. By opening our mosque to the people of Boston, we want to build bridges, strengthen mutual understanding, and work together for the good of our town.”

Imam Sherif Owoola added: “The open day gives people the chance to ask questions about Islam directly. It’s easy to be judgmental or hold misconceptions when we don’t meet each other. Openness and honest conversation are the best ways to overcome that.”

The event was also attended by Steve Holt, Chair of The Centre for Reconciliation, who commented: “It’s a great place to be — a warm and welcoming community, full of goodwill and shared purpose.”

Visitors of all ages, including families and children, took part in the day’s activities. The Mayor of Boston, Councillor Barrie Pierpoint, was also present and praised the mosque’s efforts, noting how the community has taken a proactive and positive approach in bringing people together and fostering mutual understanding across Boston.
