In July, Subash and Ruth, together with their children Ezhilvizhi and Rajendra, visited the Little Elephant School in Keeranur, a rural village near Trichy in Tamil Nadu. Founded in June 2012 by Subash, Ruth, Suresh Karuppiah and Christine Suresh, the school has welcomed more than 450 children over the past 13 years and today provides education for 47 students across Pre-K, Lower Kindergarten (L.K.G.), and Upper Kindergarten (U.K.G.).

Their visit coincided with the school’s joyful celebration of Pink Day — a vibrant event where children dressed in pink and brought pink-coloured toys and items from home. The day was designed to help students learn about the colour through crafts, spelling activities, and interactive lessons. Children also delighted their visitors with rhymes, prayers, and short presentations in both English and Tamil.

A highlight of the day was an art workshop led by Ezhilvizhi, a gifted young artist. She guided the children in drawing three pink-themed objects — a flamingo, an ice lolly, and a tulip. The children eagerly joined in, showcasing their creativity and imagination. Back in the UK, Ezhilvizhi now plans to design certificates for the top three artists and send small prizes to celebrate their efforts.

Pink Day was a true celebration of colour, creativity, and community — reflecting the Little Elephant School’s commitment to joyful, hands-on learning.
