Peace and Harmony Day

Lincolnshire Faith Council (LFC) of The Centre for Reconciliation has planned an interfaith gathering during Interfaith Week.  According to the Interfaith Network UK hundreds of events will be taking place for this year’s Interfaith Week from Sunday 12 to Sunday 19th November 2023. 

The theme for the day is ‘Peace and Harmony’ which is very relevant in today’s world.  LFC is an interfaith committee for the county of Lincolnshire which promotes dialogue, cooperation, building bridges and friendship between people of all faiths and none. 

LFC Co-chair Abdul Siddiqui is also the representative of the Lincoln Islamic Association says "In the beauty of diverse beliefs, we find the essence of unity. As the Islamic Co-chair of this event, I invite all to embrace the wisdom from every faith, understanding that our shared values outweigh our differences. Let's come together in a spirit of mutual respect and love, cherishing the lessons each tradition brings to the mosaic of humanity." "From the heart of Islam, I invite unity in diversity. Together, every faith weaves a richer tapestry of understanding."

Rachael Phillip, Chair of the Lincolnshire Jewish Community and member of LFC quoted Shalom, a Hebrew word for “complete peace, contentment, completeness, wholeness, wellbeing and harmony”.  Rachael also shared the following: “May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in this land continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants—while every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree and there shall be none to make him afraid”. 

The day event will showcase and reflect ‘Peace and Harmony’, and there will be an opportunity for meeting friends, foods and it is children friendly. We are delighted to welcome you all to join us on Saturday 11th November at St Faith’s Hall at our interfaith gathering.  This is our regular monthly Chat Café which promotes friendship and cooperation.  We are planning this as a special day marking the beginning of Interfaith Week with a faith exhibition. There will be a bring-and-share vegetarian meal, and all are welcome to join in the meal followed by speeches and interfaith prayers from the LFC members. We would welcome all of you join us on this important day. There will be a time of silence to pray for peace in the world. We look forward to seeing you there.
